The MLS Week 13 closed with the game between Toronto FC and San José Earthquakes, a game in which Chris Wondolowski rewrote the record books yet again.
The MLS schedule for this week left pretty good showdowns of East against West, with a 6-0-1 mark in favor of the West teams. LA Galaxy, Timbers, Earthquakes earned victories on the road, while Los Angeles FC, Colorado Rapids, and Real Salt Lake took the wins at home, with Vancouver getting a draw against NY Red Bulls at the lone midweek game on Wednesday.
West dominating the league
After 13 weeks into the 2019 season, the Supporters' Shield standings suggest the West Conference as the more dominant side, of course in grand part due to LAFC success, sitting atop of the league table. Seattle and Galaxy are second and third, with four of the top six and five of the top eight in the standings are from the West.
Chris Wondolowski's new record
Wondo is getting on a streak, and after breaking the MLS all-time scoring record last week with a poker of goals against the Fire, the Quakes striker took another record from Landon Donovan, as he moved past Captain America for the most game-winning goals in league's history. Wondolowski also reached a total of 150 regular season goals and is one of four players in MLS history to ever score six goals in two games.
Carlos Vela closing on MLS record
The LAFC captain, Carlitos Vela is setting the pace for this season MVP while also being in the run to break Josef Martínez' goals record set in the 2018 season. Vela has 15 goals in 15 games matching his last year's total. If he continues at this rate, he could end up the season with 34 goals, which would break Martínez' record.
Colorado Rapids second win
The Rapids secure a 3-2 victory over Columbus Crew with a dramatic penalty kick at the 89th minute, earning its second win in a row since August of last year and its first one at home this 2019, becoming a more consistent team since the arrival of Conor Casey.
Colorado also has scored in all of its last four games since Casey took charge, they're now with a record of 2-2-0 under new head coach, after having seven losses and two draws with no wins at all.
Minnesota United home streak
Minnesota got a 1-0 win over Houston Dynamo at Allianz Field, to earned its sixth straight home result since the opening of the stadium on April 13 against New York City FC, also this being the third win for Minnesota at home field.
Rooney saves DC United
DC United suffered in its visit to the New England Revs at Gillette Stadium, despite NE Revolution losing their goalie Matt Turner, after a brutal collision over DC United captain, Wayne Rooney, which got him a straight red card.
However, things weren't good for Rooney's side, and the English striker had to save the one point on the road from the spot-kick for the 1-1 result that granted DC United the Eastern Conference first place.
