Zambia FA boss mourns driver killed in Kabwe Rangers accident

Kabwe Rangers Football Club was involved in a Fatal Road Traffic accident on their way from Serenje, which claimed the life of the Driver while others were left injured.

FAZ President Keith Mweemba has expressed sadness following a fatal road traffic accident involving players from Kabwe Rangers FC. The accident claimed the life of driver Sam Lungu.

Kabwe Rangers FC were travelling from Serenje to fulfill a week 25 fixture in the FAZ Central Province Division Two Zone B League against Silverlands FC when the accident occurred. The accident happened between Mkushi and Kapiri Mposhi near Mpula area.

Three players, the club secretary and the coach were injured. The FAZ regional office identified the injured as Christopher Musakanya, Given Sichamba, John Kombe, coach Lewis Nkandu and secretary Karen Namukoko.

Mweemba conveyed his condolences to the family of the late Mr Lungu and wished the injured members of the team a speedy recovery.

“On behalf of my executive committee, I wish to express our deepest condolences to the family of Mr Sam Lungu. We also wish the injured a quick recovery,” Mweemba said.
