Zidane says he's 'buzzing' to be back at Real Madrid

Zinedine Zidane has revealed that he turned down offers from other clubs to seal a shock return to Real Madrid.

The Frenchman, who won three Champions League titles in a row before quitting just days after last year's final, has replaced Santiago Solari on a deal until 2022.

Zidane insists he is excited to be back at the Bernabeu just nine months after quitting - a decision he maintains was the right one.

Speaking to the media on Monday evening, Zidane said: 'When I left it was the right time to leave, I think the players needed a change.

It wasn't just because I wanted to leave. I actually thought after two-and-a-half years of winning almost everything, they  needed something else to maintain that momentum.

'There were things that happened during the course of the campaign. I know what this club is about and I gave it much thought but I know this is the right decision.

'I had other offers but I knew I didn't want to take charge of other clubs.

'We have to accept what happens but I carry a love inside for this club that noone can take away from me.

'I'm excited, I'm buzzing. I'm going to give everything I can to take this team to another level.

'Things change of course. There are things that have to change with the view to the upcoming years.

'I'm back and I will sit down with the president and the club to see what we can do. Today isn't the day, today isn't the question that needs answering.

'There are 11 games left this season and we need to end this season well. I'm here because he phoned me. I really love this club and I'm here again.'
