Experts of last DAILY TOPIC: In what situation do you think a club should sack the coach?
@syrendatruth: There is alot of money in modern football,especially in Europe,the pay check rivals any top cooperate organisation,as it's expected in cooperate organisations results and performance go along way to determine an employer's faith in employees that is the same criteria with a football clubs relationship with coaches many things come into play, like the type of club, the position of the club before appointment, expectation of the club and it's fans the reputation of the manager, e. g if it was another coach performing in Madrid the way Zidane is this season he would have been sacked,but the man has a huge reputation has a player and coach for the club that will definitely cut him some slacks, also see Arsenal case with Wenger he has stop performing but the club can't seem to let him go,but if we look towards the other side of town to their neighbors Chelsea you immediately see the kinder pressure conte is under even though he did so well with the team in his first season.The point of all this illustration is there is no exact or significant level of performance that warrants a club to sack it's coach it all depends firstly on the club, then also on the project and ambitions the club is pursuing with the said coach, some clubs like short term success or immediate effect while others have patience except something major happens.
@bacetonkich: Depends on clubs status.
Elite clubs like Real, Barca, Bayern, PSG in modern football dont have time and patience to wait for you. Coaches are under most pressure and u have to deliver wins and trophies. Keeping good relationships with the board and star players is key to the coaches success. Improving your teams playstyle or form wont help u in these kind of clubs. You need to win trophies and compete on all fronts all the time or else you will get sacked. Thats why big clubs dont have coaches who stay for more than three years and after they get sacked they get a break because they need to recharge after the pressure of running a top club. Also winning trophies doesnt mean the coach will be there next season. Like PSG its easy to win a treble in France but if u get eliminated in the group stages of UCL you are gone. There is no time for patience in this clubs. The fans the board has big and unrealistic demands on coaches and thats why their shelf life is so short.
In top four and midtable clubs.
You dont have to win anything. You have that top four position goal and whatever happens in Europe or in the domestic cup doesnt really impact that much. If they see that the coach has a good project in his mind and is improving his team playstyle, tactics and winning more games season after season the board and fans will be happy. You can see that in clubs like Tottenham, Liverpool, Lazio and Atletico which now have become a top club thanks to the overall development from the board and from Simeone. If the board sees that the coach has a long term plan and is improving the team day by day they will give him whatever he wants. You dont have that pressure to win every game. Look at Klopp and Pochetino. They are improving their clubs season after season and the board and fans are pleased. Have they won any titles? No. If they were in a top club they will be long gone.
@JUNAID_sXl: The understanding is that we sack them because the results are not good enough, patience has run out and we see no prospects of a turnaround.
Then comes the next question: if results are bad is that necessarily the coach’s fault? And would sacking him, and replacing him, deliver good results?
Bad results can be the fault of the coach or the players or a combination of both. Sometimes blame can even be levelled at the hierarchy, the board?
As an observer I have often asked, if a failing coach has been hired why do the people who hired him, the board, get off scot free? Why don’t they get sacked too?
Ineptitude by the board in making coaching appointments can be demonstrable. In 2012 the Melbourne Victory board sacked Mehmet Durakovic, who was failing, and appointed Jim Magilton in his place. The bad results continued and soon Magilton was gone, too. On reflection neither Durakovic nor Magilton should have been chosen. A season had been wasted. And who was to blame for that?
@estera: Well,again tricky question . Some clubs will be more tolerable to coach's mistakes , some less, depends of several different factors, so one coach could stay years and years in the club despite of wrong tactics ,big mistakes and poor managing judgments ,while other coach would be sacked after few unconvincing games in a row. Pretty crucial factor is the status and expirience of some coach in football world ,for example Arsene Wenger is pretty respected in coaching world for years ,it is not easy to sack a coach who dedicated almost whole his managing career to one club , no matter the recent poor results ,he still exist on the past fame. This is a reflection of the club's tolerance for particular coach.. Bayern didn't have any tolerance for Carlo Ancelotti's poor managing judgments. After unconvincing few months he was sacked ,no mercy ,no feelings , this was it ! That is because ,behind Bayern is strict German background, German discipline and accuracy,if particular coach doesn't Bring the results ,he is out ! One more important factor could be connection between the team and the coach. One coach who is loved and respected from his club ,will stay at this club longer ,no matter the results, than the coach who doesn't have good relationship with club's board and his team. I am pretty sure Zinedine Zidane will stay in Real despite unconvincing La Liga season because obviously currently this connection between him and the club is above all ,but certainly for better results he will have to work harder ,in this case crucial Will be Real's board politics. Conclusion : everything depends of particular club and their tolerance ,will or will not some coach be sacked and the reasons why.
