Luis Enrique has grown increasingly tired of answering questions about Kylian Mbappé (25). Even before the announcement on Friday, there was a sense that the Paris Saint-Germain manager was entirely bored of the conversations around his star forward.
Of course, the manager never particularly helped matters as his in-game decisions and his answers to questions always put the spotlight on the fact that Mbappé was destined to leave at the end of the season.
For instance, his commitment to responding to questions about why he decided not to start Mbappé with the phrase “sooner or later” the team needed to prepare for life without the Frenchman was like adding fuel to the fire.
Luis Enrique’s frustrations with the questions boiled over in his latest press conference when he was asked about whether he had talked to Mbappé about his own experience with Real Madrid, and if he had told him what the pressure and environment is like in Spain.
The manager took a deep exhale before launching into a surreal response, “Well I think that today is very rainy but at the same time beautiful because it allows you to breathe a different air. It reminds me of my home in Gijón… I believe I have answered you perfectly.”
