At AFCON 2025, Hamza Igamane is gradually emerging as one of Morocco’s most intriguing assets. A brief appearance against Cameroon was enough to remind everyone of his growing importance.

Born in Rabat and developed between FAR Rabat and Wydad Temara, the 23-year-old striker embodies a local success story. After leaving the Botola for Europe and making his mark with Glasgow Rangers, his move to LOSC accelerated his rise, with a profile built on power, technique and confidence.

His progression with the national team followed the same path. Despite stiff competition from El Kaabi, En-Nesyri and Rahimi, Igamane secured his place under Walid Regragui thanks to his unique profile. An early injury threatened to end his AFCON campaign before it truly began, but the staff kept faith and worked patiently to get him back for the knockout stages. His return against Cameroon, greeted by a standing ovation, highlighted his popularity and the belief placed in him.

Now close to full fitness, Igamane could be a key weapon against Nigeria. Facing a strong and physical defense, his ability to play with his back to goal, combined with power and technique, may offer Morocco a different attacking option. Even if he starts from the bench, the Rabat native is expected to ignite the crowd once again in a semi-final where the Atlas Lions will need every possible edge.
