According to Real Madrid beat reporter José Félix Díaz of AS, Real Madrid has reached an agreement with Bellingham on a contract extension, with the new deal running until 2031 and the player's salary also set to increase.
Reports indicate that Real Madrid and Bellingham have agreed to extend his contract until 2031. Bellingham joined Real Madrid from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2023, signing a contract until the end of the 2028-29 season, and now both parties have agreed to extend that deal.
Furthermore, Bellingham's contract terms will also be improved, reflecting his importance to the team, the impact of his on-field performance, and his standing within the Real Madrid squad.
Since joining, Bellingham has proven himself to be a game-changing player and possesses the ability to become a dressing room leader. Real Madrid is looking for players to take over the leadership roles from figures like Carvajal, Modrić, and Kroos. These players previously had significant influence in the locker room, and Real Madrid now needs a core figure who can represent the team.
Negotiations for the extension began late last season, and from the initial contact, both sides showed full understanding. Bellingham is increasingly identifying with Real Madrid and adapting to life in the Spanish capital, something Real Madrid fans are well aware of.
No one doubts Bellingham's commitment and loyalty to the team. Bernabéu fans greatly appreciate his fighting spirit on the pitch and his ability to motivate teammates.
The English midfielder has regained the form he showed in his first season at Real Madrid. In fact, his performance began to improve late last season after gradually recovering from a shoulder issue and undergoing surgery, a trend further confirmed during the World Cup.
It should be noted that Bellingham had postponed shoulder surgery to help Real Madrid when the team was facing difficulties, a decision that ultimately affected his on-field performance.
Mourinho's arrival has allowed Bellingham to return to a position where he feels comfortable. He can operate freely behind Mbappé, which not only enhances his individual performance but, more importantly, further strengthens his role on the field.
Bellingham also makes significant contributions defensively; he is actively involved in defending and is the first to initiate the team's high press. This ability is extremely valuable in modern football.
Bellingham's outstanding performance during the World Cup has further solidified his position in the England team. Previously, there had been some issues between him and Tuchel, but now he has become an indispensable player for the Three Lions. His eight goals at the World Cup fully demonstrate this.
