Aguero's son, Benjamin, claims his godfather Messi was too much for PSG

Sergio Aguero's son has been quick to offer a barbed comment to Paris Saint-Germain, as the club bid farewell to Lionel Messi on social media.

The youngster saw his comment on Instagram go viral, raking in more than 96,000 likes, after claiming that the legendary Argentina captain was bigger than the French champions.

Messi is famously a long-term friend of Benjamin's famous father, with the pair often sharing a room together as the Albiceleste travelled for away games, and Aguero was present for Argentina's lengthy World Cup celebrations.

But it was the former Manchester City and Barcelona star's son who leapt to the defence of Argentina's national icon on Instagram.

The club posted a number of image of Messi on their Instagram account, with the caption #MerciMessi, after it was at last confirmed after prolonged speculation that the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner will be leaving Paris this summer.

And Benjamin seized his opportunity to offer his own thoughts on the matter, writing: 'He was a lot for you.'

Aguero senior is not Benjamin's only relative in football, though.

The youngster is in fact the grandson of the late great Diego Maradona, widely considered one of football's greatest talents and the predecessor to Messi's status as Argentina's idol.

In fact, Messi himself is his godfather, thanks to his strong relationship with Aguero, putting Benjamin in the privileged position of having family ties to three of the most prolific players in football history.

While his father, Sergio, was forced to retire as a result of heart complications back in 2021 - having joined Barcelona to play alongside his great friend who subsequently joined PSG - Messi has continued his stellar career.

The forward managed impressive numbers for Les Parisiens this term, with 21 goals and 20 assists.

Yet was still considered to have been something of a disappointment by the club's fans judging by the whistles and jeers greeting him after PSG's Champions League round of 16 exit to Bayern Munich.

Christophe Galtier officially confirmed that the player will be leaving at the end of his current contract, bringing an end to an uneasy relationship in the French capital.

Messi's future is uncertain, with a return to Barca touted as a possibility after talks between his father-cum-agent Jorge and the Catalan giants.

However, with the club failing to make a concrete offer, there is still a chance for the likes of Inter Miami and Al-Hilal to make a swoop for the 35-year-old.

A visit to Saudi Arabia caused havoc for the player at PSG, coming during the season and resulting in a two-week suspension.

A return to the country has been subject of heavy attention, with a bid for his services believed to amount to a staggering £345million per season, and a move could see him line-up opposite his old rival Cristiano Ronaldo, currently at Al-Nassr.
