Super Eagles forward Akor Adams has received continental recognition after his brilliant strike against Algeria was named among the top five goals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

CAF made the announcement via its official X account, unveiling the list of the five most outstanding goals scored during the AFCON 2025 finals, with Adams’ effort earning a deserved place among the elite finishes of the tournament.
The goal came during Nigeria’s convincing 2-0 quarter-final victory over Algeria, a match that underlined the Super Eagles’ attacking quality and tactical discipline.
Early in the second half, Adams latched onto a perfectly weighted pass from Victor Osimhen, who now plays for Galatasaray, before producing a moment of sheer brilliance.
The 25-year-old calmly dribbled past Algerian goalkeeper Luca Zidane and slotted the ball into an empty net to double Nigeria’s advantage and seal the win.
It was Adams’ second goal of the tournament in Morocco and one that captured the attention of fans and pundits alike for its composure, skill, and importance at a crucial stage of the competition.
Notably, this was not Adams’ only moment of magic at the tournament.
His first goal of AFCON 2025 was equally eye-catching, as he unleashed a delightful strike from inside the box during Nigeria’s Round of 16 clash against Mozambique, further cementing his reputation as one of the Super Eagles’ standout performers.
Joining Adams on CAF’s prestigious top five goals list are Morocco’s Ayoub El Kaabi, Cameroon striker Christian Kofane, Algeria’s Adil Boulbinan, and Senegal midfielder Pape Gueye, whose goals also lit up the tournament.
Adams’ inclusion on the list is a testament to his impact at AFCON 2025 and highlights Nigeria’s strong showing at the continental showpiece, reinforcing the Super Eagles’ status as one of Africa’s football powerhouses.
