Every game that Marco Asensio plays in this final part of the season is special.
This is due to the fact he was out for more than 10 months after suffering a knee injury in in pre-season, but Sunday night's match for Real Madrid is also one that will be a little emotional for the 24-year-old.
Espanyol is like another home for Asensio, something that he felt as he recovered from injury.
It was in Barcelona that he played his first minutes in LaLiga Santander, with Real Madrid signing him from Real Mallorca in the summer of 2015 and then loaning him to Los Periquitos for the season.
It was at Espanyol that Asensio made friends who didn't forget him when he ruptured his cruciate ligament in Washington.
The 2015/16 campaign was an extraordinary one for the Balearic Islander.
On September 19, 2015, after coming on as a substitute in his first two games and then missing the match against Real Madrid, Asensio started for the first time in LaLiga Santander.
Real Sociedad were the opponents that day and he provided an assist, while he repeated the same feat in the next matchday against Valencia.
So good was Asensio's season that Vicente del Bosque included him in Spain's preliminary squad for Euro 2016 and he was within touching distance of being selected amongst the 23.
The playmaker ended the LaLiga Santander campaign with four goals and, above all, 13 assists as Espanyol finished 13th in the table.
Real Madrid were clear and made the decision to bring Asensio back to the club for the 2016/17 season, which was a campaign that saw Los Blancos win the Champions League and LaLiga Santander.
That was followed by two seasons of ups and downs, and he was beginning to once again show what he is capable of during pre-season in Montreal last summer, but then the injury and the dark months came.
On Sunday night, Asensio returns to his other home, against an Espanyol side that he scored against in September 2019.
