Real Sociedad secured their first Copa Del Rey trophy in 34 years after a match-winning penalty from Mikel Oyarzabal.
In a closely fought out game, Oyarzabal scored from the spot after 64 minutes and they held out to win the final which had been scheduled to take place last year.
It was disappointment for Athletic Bilbao who lost their first of two Copa Del Rey finals they play this month, with this year's final against Barcelona still to come in a fortnight.
