Match Report

Barcelona had already wrapped up the league title, while Athletic Bilbao's Champions League qualification had long-since been confirmed and, as such, there was little riding on this fixture at the San Mames.

But Barcelona looked every bit title winners as they reached 88 points for the campaign, four ahead of second-placed Real Madrid and 12 above Atletico Madrid in third.

With the low stakes of the game, head coach Hansi Flick chose to rest many first-teamers, including both senior goalkeepers Wojciech Szczesny and Marc-Andre ter Stegen, with Inaki Pena given his first start in more than four months.

Lewandowski got things going in the 14th minute after being played in by Fermin Lopez having beaten the offside trap, lobbing goalkeeper Unai Simon.

The Polish striker doubled his tally just four minutes later when heading home from a corner after Unai Gomez had made an error from his clearance.

Despite his brace, Lewandowski fell short of Kylian Mbappe's 31 league goals for the season and had to settle for second place in the Golden Boot race on 27. He missed a brilliant chance for his hat-trick shortly after the restart, while he had been substituted three minutes prior to a late penalty.

Olmo was fouled inside the penalty area in the 92nd minute and got back up to take spot kick, putting his side three goals to the good and wrapping up victory.

5 - With 101 goals, Robert Lewandowski has become the fifth fastest Barcelona player to reach 100 goals in all competitions (147), after Mariano Martín (99), László Kubala (103), Luis Suárez (120) and Evaristo (143). Milestone. pic.twitter.com/fYtatShnoC

Data debrief: Comfortable victory for impressive Barcelona

Despite scoring three goals away from home, Barcelona still underperformed their xG of 3.49.

Finishing the season with 27 league goals and 42 in all competitions, Lewandowski signed off from his best Barcelona campaign since signing three seasons ago. He is also the fifth-fastest Barcelona player to reach 100 goals for the club after notching his 100th and 101st.

Barcelona themselves, meanwhile, finished the league season as top scorers with 102 goals – at least 24 more than any other team.
