Match Report

Samuel Lino and Antoine Griezmann were on target as Los Rojiblancos moved to within a point of LaLiga leaders Real Madrid, who play Espanyol later on Saturday.

Atletico broke the deadlock in the 26th minute as Lino beat Mallorca goalkeeper Dominik Greif with a low drive.

Simeone's side had failed to win their last two league games, and it was not until deep into second-half stoppage time that they secured the points.

They did so in sublime fashion, too, as Griezmann lobbed Greif from distance to ensure Atleti got back to winning ways ahead of their blockbuster clash with Madrid at Santiago Bernabeu next weekend.

Data Debrief: Simeone brings up 500 LaLiga games

Simeone became the eighth manager to take charge of 500 matches in LaLiga, and the first to do so with a single club.

Griezmann's delicious lob means he has now been directly involved in six goals (three goals, three assists) in his last nine LaLiga appearances against Mallorca.

Atletico have now won four successive league meetings against Mallorca without conceding for the first time in their history.

As for the visitors, they are now on a run of five consecutive defeats across all competitions, while failing to score during that run.
