Arsenal transfer news: Aurelien Tchouameni continues to be linked with a move away from Real Madrid with the Gunners amongst the interested parties waiting.

Aurelien Tchouameni has dropped a clear transfer hint as he continues to be linked with a move away from Real Madrid this summer. It has been reported that the France star could be available for sale in order to fund a move for Kylian Mbappe later in the window.

With the challenge of Champions League football and increased expectations, the Gunners are attempting to add energy and depth to their midfield. Granit Xhaka has already departed whilst Thomas Partey could soon follow him. It may well leave things looking bare heading into the new season.

However, Fabrizio Romano has rebuffed such rumours. He said: "Let me say, from Real Madrid the message is very clear - they want to keep the player.

"They trust Tchouameni for the present and future of the club, so it's not going to be easy to bring Tchouameni to English football. At the moment, it looks very complicated.

"Also, Carlo Ancelotti was very clear with the player. He told him that he wants Tchouameni to stay at Real Madrid and to be an important player for Real Madrid."

Madrid have already added Jude Bellingham to their midfield and have planned for the future with the addition of Eduardo Camavinga also. It provides competition for Tchouameni, who also has to rival Fede Valverde, Luka Modric and Toni Kroos for a slot in the midfield three currently.

The Reds are rivalling Arsenal for Romeo Lavia too but have been dealt a blow in their attempts to prize Tchouameni out of Spain. The player appears to have confirmed his decision not to move to Liverpool, liking a tweet reporting Romano's latest update.

The story, tweeted by Real Madrid news account @RMadrid_actu, reads: "Tchouameni is not for sale. Do you understand Liverpool?"

Tchouameni's act to like the post seems to make things perfectly clear for Liverpool and may well open the transfer up to Arsenal, though it seems they will struggle just as much to make a deal become reality.
