Barcelona youth director Alexanco's position is coming under increased scrutiny amid concerns about the current state of the club's famed La Masia academy, according to reports.
The academy has produced some of the best players to grace European football over the years with Lionel Messi, Xavi and Andres Iniesta all coming through it before winning multiple honours with the senior team.
But Barcelona are not happy at missing out on some of the best young talent to rival clubs Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid, and they are also struggling to keep hold of their brightest prospects.
As a result, the pressure is ramping up on Alexanco and he could leave his position this summer, as reported by Relevo.
One of Barcelona's worries with Alexanco is that he is not doing enough to convince players to stay.
Teenage forward Victor Barbera has scored seven goals in five games in the UEFA Youth League this term, but is set to join Belgian outfit Club Brugge in the summer on a free transfer.
Winger Ilias Akhomach is also viewed as an exciting talent, but talks over a new deal have hit an impasse, and he has offers on the table from Italian giants AC Milan and Premier League side Leeds United.
Barcelona view it as imperative that they are recruiting the best young talent and bringing these players from the academy into the first-team due to their fragile financial situation.
But losing potential stars at a young age is setting them back, while results on the pitch have also suffered, with the Under-19 team suffering early exits from the UEFA Youth League and the Copa del Rey.
The Catalan club is now believed to be considering whether Alexanco is the right man to take the academy forward or if a change in personnel is needed.
