Barcelona 'concerned' about Memphis Depay move and more Manchester United transfer rumours

Reports suggest Barcelona are "unsure" about selling Memphis Depay to Manchester United during the upcoming transfer window due to their impending two-legged Europa League showdown.

Depay, 28, struggled during his previous 18-month spell at United between 2015 and 2017 before developing into a top player at Lyon with 76 goals and 55 assists from 178 games there. Barcelona signed the Netherlands forward on a free transfer last summer, but he has seemingly been deemed surplus to requirements.

Poland captain Robert Lewandowski is currently the first-choice striker at the Nou Camp and Barcelona are willing to let Depay leave for a cut-price figure next month. However, with Erik ten Hag reportedly interested, the Spanish giants are "concerned" with the clubs set to meet in Europe this season.

Depay was directly involved in seven goals at Old Trafford from 53 games after being welcomed to the club by his current international manager, Louis van Gaal, in time for the 2015/2016 campaign. Spanish newspaper AS [via Daily Express] claim the player might have to move elsewhere with a £4.3million fee mooted for his services.

Elsewhere, reports from Spanish publication Fichajes suggest Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak is the "number one contender" to replace David de Gea between the posts next season. De Gea, 32, is now into the final months of his contract, although the club do hold an option to extend it.

Ten Hag and United have been linked with moves for would-be replacements and Oblak, 29, could ultimately seek out a fresh challenge after eight years with his current team. Yann Sommer and Odysseas Vlachodimos are also thought to be on a three-man shortlist - with Oblak viewed as the priority.
