Barcelona have confessed internally that they are glad to have not sold Frenkie de Jong in the summer.

The Catalan giants were determined to part with the Dutch midfielder to raise funds for other transfers.

However, de Jong refused to move, despite having offers from Manchester United and Chelsea.

Now, Mundo Deportivo claim that Barca believe they got lucky.

A club source told the outlet: "Lucky we didn't sell him."

The source also added: "He understands better and better what is being asked of him and the coach values him a lot."
