Barcelona believe that Ousmane Dembele intends to join PSG in the summer transfer window, according to reports.

The 24-year-old's future has been the subject of speculation in recent months as his contract at the Nou Camp is set to expire in June.

Speaking on Tuesday, Barcelona club president Joan Laporta revealed that Dembele's representatives had already suggested that the player had chosen where his next destination would be.

'We think that Dembele already has a contract with another club, they have insinuated that to us. What we will do is defend the interests of our club,' he told reporters.

It now seems that a move to France could be on the cards, with it being claimed that the player is understood to have an agreement in place to join PSG, as reported by Mundo Deportivo.

A switch to Mauricio Pochettino's team was viewed as unlikely in January due to Kylian Mbappe still being at the club, but he could depart at the end of the season when his contract runs out, opening up a space in the team for Dembele.

Should Dembele leave for PSG, this could be considered a blow for Chelsea and Tottenham, who were heavily linked with the winger on the final day of last month's transfer window.

Blues boss Thomas Tuchel, in particular, was reportedly very keen on bringing Dembele to Stamford Bridge, but a deal failed to be agreed on deadline day.

It appears that the Premier League outfit may have missed their chance to sign the forward as he closes in on a transfer to PSG.

Dembele would not be the first player to have left Barcelona for PSG, with Lionel Messi and Neymar both opting to go down this career path in recent years.

Barcelona manager Xavi must now decide how to use the Frenchman between now and the end of the season as the Catalan giants aim to avoid the unthinkable situation of finishing outside the top four in LaLiga.

He could bring him back into the fold to help them team finish the campaign strongly, or may choose to sideline Dembele as his apparent exit from the club draws nearer.
