Former Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic has emerged as a January option for Barcelona.
The 34-year-old had interest from the Spanish champions prior to leaving Chelsea for Zenit St Petersburg and they are weighing him up as one of a number of targets to cover for Samuel Umtiti who is out with a knee injury.
Ivanovic is out of contract in the summer though has the option of a further year.
The Serbia captain could be available on a free and that has alerted Barcelona with other potential signings difficult and more expensive in the January window.
Ivanovic was considering a return to London following tentative enquiries from Fulham and Crystal Palace and they could yet come back into play.
Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic wants a couple of experienced players to help his young squad cope better in the Premier League.
Ivanovic joined Zenit on a free transfer in February 2017 and has made 60 appearances scoring five goals. Previously he amassed 377 games for Chelsea, scoring 34 goals in a nine year spell at Stamford Bridge.
