According to a report in Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona's Dubai residential real estate project will be approved by the Members Assembly, while the Abu Dhabi building project has recently slowed down.
The report states that FC Barcelona's real estate project in Dubai includes a residential complex with several Barça cafés and Barça official stores. It is currently included in the club's short-term development plan and will be officially launched after approval by the Members Assembly; meanwhile, the club's other naming rights plan for a building in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates has slowed down in recent weeks.
Barcelona’s Dubai project emulates similar models already implemented by European clubs such as Manchester City, and plans to add a commercial partner brand logo in the space behind the jersey that currently features the UNHCR logo. UEFA prohibits commercial advertising logos on jerseys in Champions League matches, so the Barcelona Foundation logo will continue to be used in the Champions League, while the commercial logo of project partner Ohanah Development will be printed on jerseys for La Liga and Copa del Rey matches.
Subject to approval by the Assembly of Delegate Members
As it involves adjusting jersey advertising, this project, which could bring the club about ten million euros in revenue per season, must be put to a vote by the Assembly of Delegate Members. The proposal will be submitted for review at the new Assembly of Delegate Members, and the related revenue will not be included in the club's financial accounts until the next fiscal year.
As for the completely different Abu Dhabi building project, its progress has slowed down. Barcelona has commissioned a special audit to accurately assess the value of building naming rights sponsorship.
The Dubai real estate project is one of the important layouts to boost Barcelona's revenue growth, and the related revenue will start from the next fiscal year and continue to generate revenue for the club in the following years.
