Betting Tips: Real Madrid vs Ajax

The Bernabeu hosts a big Champions League game for Los Blancos on Tuesday and we think it could be a tight affair against Erik ten Hag's side

Ajax travel to the Santiago Bernabeu on Tuesday evening hoping to turn around a 2-1 first leg deficit in their Champions League last 16 tie with Real Madrid.

The Eredivisie side were widely praised for their performance at the Johan Cruyff Arena three weeks ago, yet Los Blancos' European experience proved key in an exciting game.

Santiago Solari's men come in the game having lost three successive home matches for the first time since 2004, and the last two of those defeats have come at the hands of eternal rivals Barcelona.

William Hill offer a home win at 63/100 (1.63) and Madrid have won their last seven matches against Ajax. The visitors meanwhile are priced at 4/1 (5.00) with the draw offered at 3/1 (4.00).

The hosts are without captain Sergio Ramos who is suspended for the game. However, there are no major injury concerns of the visit of Ajax.

The Dutch side for their part did not play at the weekend so should be pretty fresh for the trip to the Spanish capital. Centre-back Lisandro Magallan and midfielder Carel Eiting are likely to be missing as they were in the first leg.

Two defeats to Barcelona in the space of four days have left Real Madrid knocked out of the Copa del Rey and all but mathematically elminated from the La Liga title race.

The season is on the line for Los Blancos and failure to progress in Europe would be a major blow. They should have enough to go through, although after a morale-sapping few days we should not expect a high scoring game.

In the first leg Ajax created a number of chances which they failed to convert, and with both sides lacking a ruthless streak in the final third, opposing goals makes sense.

Under 3.5 goals in the game is priced at 4/5 (1.80) and has paid out in each of Real Madrid's last five matches in all competitions.

Furthermore this bet has paid out in 17 of the 20 matches Los Blancos have contested at home this season and looks a strong option for Tuesday night.
