According to "Sport", as Elche enter the second week of preseason training, Álvaro Rodríguez's transfer and Josan's contract renewal remain pending.
Álvaro Rodríguez's transfer is almost confirmed, with only an official announcement pending. AFC Bournemouth, who will participate in the Europa League next season, are prepared to pay €30 million for the Spanish-Uruguayan player, with €25 million as a fixed fee and an additional €5 million in variable clauses.
Half of this transfer fee will go to Elche, and the other half to Real Madrid. The two clubs reached an agreement last year for Álvaro's transfer from Real Madrid to Elche, which included a future sell-on clause. If the deal is successfully completed, Elche will receive between €12.5 million and €15 million, close to the record set by Rodrigo Mendoza's transfer to Atlético Madrid.
Josan hopes to stay
As Álvaro Rodríguez's future gradually becomes clearer, Josan's destination should also be determined as soon as possible. The player has not yet returned to the team's preseason training because he and Elche have not yet agreed on a contract renewal; his contract expired on June 30.
The winger from Crevillent is training individually. Josan, 36, hopes to continue competing at the highest professional level, and staying at Elche would be ideal. Elche's management has publicly stated in recent weeks that they are confident of reaching an agreement with Josan to keep him in the green-striped jersey.
As of now, Elche have only retained Víctor Chust, Bubacar Sangaré, and Gonzalo Villar by activating their buy-out clauses; all three played for the team on loan last season. The club have also welcomed back loaned players, including Argentine Abiel Osorio. His documentation issues should be resolved soon, after which he can travel to Spain to train under Anselmi.
