Rennes boss Bruno Genesio believes that Eduardo Camavinga's decision to depart the Ligue 1 club and join Real Madrid in summer will prove to be fruitful for the 18-year-old midfielder.
Genesio revealed that the France international wasn't at his best in terms of how he was feeling in his last season at his boyhood club and he had to get out of his comfort zone.
"It was difficult for him here [at Rennes]," Genesio told L'Equipe.
"It was also difficult for us to see him like that because we all wanted him to be happy. And, in my opinion, he was not happy.
"The best solution would have been for him to stay one more year and extend his contract. But in hindsight, I think it is good that he goes abroad.
"He is where he deserves to be. Now he has to give himself all the resources he needs, thinking only of the green rectangle and all that he has to do to establish himself there [at Real Madrid].
"I have often told him that he has not lost his qualities overnight. There was a particular context that made it more difficult at times.
"But he's talented, he's a hard worker and knows how to listen. So, he has everything to succeed.
"Sometimes leaving your surroundings, your boyhood club, your comfort zone, is good."
