Casemiro's journey from hell to heaven

Casemiro has climbed through the ranks at Real Madrid to become an indisputable part of Zinedine Zidane's first team.

The Brazilian midfielder arrived at the club in January 2013 when Los Blancos took advantage of a dispute he was having with Sao Paulo to sign him.

Arriving at just 20, Real Madrid didn't take long to execute their buyout option on his loan agreement, signing him permanently for just six million euros.

But things weren't easy for him back then though and, largely due to the relationship he had with Sao Paulo, a number of people at the club doubted his potential, which wasn't helped by him arriving a little overweight.

Nevertheless, the club stuck by him and he kept working, even despite facing a lot of criticism.

Those doubting him started to change their opinions after he impressed against Borussia Dortmund, though he was then loaned to Porto for the 2014/15 season.

Ever since returning from Portugal, he's been an important part of the setup at Real Madrid and now, aged 28, his significance cannot be doubted.

Casemiro has won 14 trophies with Los Blancos, including four Champions League crowns, three Club World Cups, two LaLiga Santander titles and a Copa del Rey.
