Chelsea fans blame 'awful' Cucurella for Chilwell red card after huge error

Chelsea fans are completely fed up with Marc Cucurella after blaming him for Ben Chilwell's dismissal against Real Madrid.

Chilwell was shown a straight red card midway through the second half after yanking Rodrygo on the arm just outside the box when he was the last man, but supporters on social media were adamant it was Cucurella's fault, after the Spaniard failed to track Rodrygo's run, forcing Chilwell to take drastic action.

The incident happened just minutes after Cucurella came on for the injured Kalidou Koulibaly, and many Blues fans say they never want to see him in a Chelsea shirt ever again.

"What is Cucurella playing at? It's his man and he leaves him and Ben has to cover," one fan fumed. Another said: "I Cucurella should never play for Chelsea again. S*** defender."

A third added: "Cucurella is the worst signing we've made in 10 years and I will fight anyone who disagrees."

Another wrote: "The fact that a slower Koulibaly recovered well enough to stop Rodrygo earlier shows how bad Cucurella had to be to let this happen. Totally his fault."

Is Cucurella good enough to play for Chelsea? Let us know what you think in the comments section below.

Karim Benzema (who else?) put Madrid ahead mid-way through the first half after tapping home from close-range after Vinicius Jr's volley was parried into his path by Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Marco Asensio then doubled the home side's lead shortly after Chilwell's red card, driving a low shot into the bottom left from the edge of the box following a smart short corner routine, leaving Chelsea with a mountain to climb.
