Chelsea interested in JJ Gabriel, but player prefers move to Euro giants outside EPL

According to talkSPORT, Man United youth academy prospect JJ Gabriel has expressed his desire to leave the club. Although Chelsea is interested in the England U17 international, the player currently prefers to leave the Premier League and join a European powerhouse. Real Madrid and Barcelona are reportedly leading the race, with PSG and Bayern also interested.

Gabriel turned 16 on October 6, which automatically qualifies him for Man United's B squad for European competitions and makes him eligible to feature for the first team. However, he has not trained with the club since requesting Man United cancel his player registration last month.

Man United has reportedly attempted to repair the relationship multiple times, but Gabriel's family appears determined for him to leave Old Trafford.

Sources close to the situation believe that Gabriel holds an Irish passport, making him eligible to join an EU club, provided FIFA approves the transfer and determines that Man United receives appropriate training compensation. talkSPORT previously reported that Man United might receive only around £300,000 in compensation.

Chelsea is one of the clubs interested in Gabriel, but a direct move to a domestic English rival would be more difficult for him, at least until the end of this season.

Currently, Real Madrid and Barcelona are considered the favourites to sign Gabriel, with PSG and Bayern also monitoring the situation.

It is worth noting that Gabriel still appears in Man United's official team photo for this season, but the photo was taken before he submitted his transfer request to the club.
