Chelsea will miss out on 'The Monster', aka teenage centre-back Mikayil Faye, as he is in talks to join Barcelona.
The 18-year-old from NK Kustosija was a target for Chelsea but would not have qualified for a work permit.
Mauricio Pochettino's side would have needed to send him out on loan and had no ready-made club for him.
Barcelona have stepped in with a £4m offer.
A former Senegal Under-17 international, Faye represented his country at the World Cup for that age group in 2019.
Although he is mainly deployed at centre-back, Faye is also capable of operating as a left-back if required.
Borussia Dortmund were also interested in Faye, who turned down French clubs Marseille and Reims last summer.
Faye is a product of the renowned Diambars FC academy.
