Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has revealed that he never thought he would end up playing for 'the best team in the world'.

Courtois, who joined Real from Chelsea in 2018, described playing for the Spanish giants as 'a dream come true',

He wrote on Instagram: 'I started as a goalkeeper when I was 11 years old and since then I have had the ambition in my head, but I never imagined that I would play for the best team in the world. It's a dream come true.'

The 28-year-old was answering questions from his followers on Instagram stories.

Although he pulled out of the Belgium squad with a slight back problem, he is expected to be fit to feature when Real return to action against Cadiz on October 17.

After starting out at Genk, Courtois earned a move to Chelsea in 2011 but was loaned out to Atletico Madrid for three years, where he won LaLiga, the Copa del Rey and the Europa League, while he also reached the final of the Champions League in 2014, where Atletico were beaten by Real.

Courtois went on to play 154 times for Chelsea, winning two Premier League titles, the FA Cup and the League Cup.

Since moving to Real he has added to his impressive trophy haul, winning the LaLiga title last season.
