According to Marca, the RB Leipzig coach participated in a virtual roundtable discussion on the eve of the match at the Bernabéu.
Regarding Xavi Simons' departure from RB Leipzig, Demichelis stated: "I spoke with him several times, and he expressed his desire to take a step forward in his career. I wish him all the best, because he has grown a lot at this club, which values the development of young players. Modern football needs wingers with great breakthrough ability, and he can make a difference on both the left and right flanks. He can control the ball with both feet, is very fast, and can also track back and win duels. He is a very well-rounded player. Now it's up to him and how he continues to grow at a big club like Real Madrid. I have no doubt that he will meet excellent coaches and teammates."
Speaking about Mourinho and the match against Real Madrid, Demichelis said: "I hope we can put in a different performance, because over the weekend we didn't look like ourselves in any important aspect of football, both with and without the ball. I believe we can change that. It's important that we play our own game, instead of waiting for the opponent to play theirs.
Hopefully, we can be bolder and become a team that wants to control possession again. Against Real Madrid, we must protect the ball well, because every time they win it back, they create very dangerous transitions. Mbappé's goal shows what Real Madrid needs: two passes and any attacker can break through and find a seemingly nonexistent space. Then it's about finishing. He is unique."
