After the farewell on the pitch on Sunday against Mallorca (3-0), on Monday, FC Barcelona held an event for laying the first stone of the new Spotify Camp Nou.
"The new Spotify Camp Nou will be the realisation of a collective Barcelona dream," said president Joan Laporta in his speech.
Also in attendance were several Barça personalities such as captain Sergio Busquets, coach Xavi Hernández and Barça legend Melanie Serrano.
On the first stone placed behind the Gol Sud goal, Juan Manuel Asensi, president of the FC Barcelona Players' Association, placed the day's newspapers, including SPORT.
Our newspaper was the first to be visible and, therefore, the first to see the light of day of the new Spotify Camp Nou.
Afterwards, Xavi put in a Barça shirt from the current season, Busquets added the captain's armband and Melanie a ball. In addition, two representatives from the academy, Jana Muro (Infantil A) and Guiu Xuclà (Infantil B), each presented a football boot.
At the end of the ceremony, Laporta said that "Spotify Camp Nou is already the past, full of memories, feelings, glorious moments and unforgettable afternoons and nights. The most important thing is that, from now on, the new Spotify Camp Nou will be the future. It will live up to our history."
The president closed the event by placing a Barça and a Catalan flag in the box.
