Elche vs Real Madrid: Predictions, odds & betting tips

  /  autty

Real Madrid travel to the Estadio Martinez Valero on Thursday evening to face Elche in the last 16 of the Copa del Rey.

Carlo Ancelotti's men come into the clash on a high having secured the Spanish Super Cup in impressive fashion at the weekend in Saudi Arabia and Los Blancos are clear favourites to progress on Thursday evening.

Elche, however, are enjoying their best run of form of the season having beaten Villarreal on Sunday in La Liga to record back-to-back victories for the first time since May.

Madrid claimed a 2-1 win when they visited the province of Alicante back in October in La Liga and another success for the side from the capital of Spain can be backed at 4/7 (1.57) with bet365.

Elche for their part can be backed at 5/1 (6.00) while the game can be backed at 3/1 (4.00) to go to extra time.

Karim Benzema can be backed at 11/4 (3.75) to break the deadlock, while Vinicius Junior is available at 9/2 (5.50).

It remains to be seen how strong a starting XI Carlo Ancelotti fields, but both of those forwards are likely to start and are understandably the shortest priced players to open the scoring.

Lucas Boye, meanwhile, is Elche's top scorer and came off the bench at the weekend to score the only goal of the game against Villarreal.

The Argentine is offered at a healthy looking 11/1 (12.00) to score first.

Since Francisco took over as manager of Elche, the side's fortunes have improved considerably.

Having won just one of their previous 10 matches before the departure of Fran Escriba, Francisco's first 10 encounters have brought six wins, two draws and two defeats.

The two losses came by single-goal margins against Barcelona and Valencia, conceding late goals on both occasions, and Los Ilicitanos have become a tough side to defeat.

Up front they always pose a goal threat and have scored in 18 of their 24 matches in all competitions this term as well as in nine of their last 10 matches.

There should be plenty of interest in backing the hosts to score once more as they have done in each of their last three meetings with Real Madrid.

Both teams to score has paid out in four of the last five meetings between these sides and is offered at the attractive price of 10/11 (1.91).
