Espanyol brought an end to Levante's ten match unbeaten home run in LaLiga Santander with a 1-0 win at the Estadi Ciutat de Valencia courtesy of a first-half Bernardo Espinosa strike.
Levante supporters were forgetting what defeat felt like, as two injury time goals from Villarreal back in March was the last time Los Granotas tasted defeat.
Espinosa struck on 38 minutes which was enough to overcome a Levante side uncharacteristically lacking energy to fight back.
Under Pablo Machin, Espanyol had been showing signs of getting back into gear and the grit displayed to get over the line at a tough ground will have been hugely satisfying for the new coach.
