According to "Sport", Espanyol's influence on Catalan football is significant, with an annual economic impact of €201 million.

According to the report "El futbol que mou Barcelona" compiled by the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce, Espanyol generates an annual economic impact of €201 million. The report analyzes the contributions of several clubs in the Barcelona metropolitan area and identifies this club as one of the key drivers of the local sports economy.
The report defines this figure as total value added. It considers not only the club's recorded revenue but also evaluates the broader ripple effect of Espanyol's activities on the surrounding economy and society.
The latest financial data released by Espanyol at its shareholders' meeting in November showed that turnover increased from €61 million in the previous fiscal year to €92 million, with the club's asset value reaching €191 million. However, the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce study incorporated additional indicators to calculate the club's total economic impact.
Espanyol's local spending is estimated at €133.1 million annually. The report states that this economic activity generates €36.8 million in taxes for public finances across all levels.
The report also analyzes employment impact. According to the study, Espanyol directly or indirectly created and maintained 3,689 jobs, including positions within the club itself as well as employment generated by suppliers, freelancers, and related service industries.
The report examined the economic impact of seven football clubs in the Barcelona region: Barcelona and Espanyol from La Liga, Sabadell from Segunda División B, Europa and Sant Andreu from Primera Federación, Terrassa from Segunda Federación, and L'Hospitalet from Tercera Federación.
In this comparison, Barcelona had the greatest economic impact, with an estimated annual contribution of €1.297 billion.
Sabadell currently generates an economic impact of €5.2 million, but the report projects this figure to rise significantly to approximately €12.7 million following the team's recent promotion to Segunda División. Europa generates close to €5 million, and Sant Andreu close to €6 million. Terrassa and L'Hospitalet both have an annual impact of over €3 million.
