Former Brazil midfielder Paulo Silas has told Manchester United that Casemiro "is going to be irreplaceable" at the club, as he praised the 30-year-old for always showing up in big games.

Brazil were the pre-tournament favourites heading into the World Cup, and after their performances in Qatar it is clear to see why. National team coach Tite has an incredible pool of talent to choose from, as he prepares his side for their quarter-final clash with Croatia on Friday.

Casemiro has been exceptional for the Selecao during the tournament so far, with the United midfielder likely to start once again for the South American side when they face their European opponents.

Silas has now hailed Casemiro as a player who can simply do everything, while also being humble enough to continue to work hard and perform for his team.

He told ESPN: "He is exceptional at all the fundamental aspects of the game, such as heading, using both feet, he can tackle, can shoot from outside the box, he can assist too. But above all, he always performs in big games.

"He can get the best player of the other team into a clamp without necessarily being punished with a yellow card. He is a guy that everyone loves, referees and opponents too, they respect him a lot.

"To be huge, like he is, you need to be humble. A lot of players didn't go well in Real Madrid because they weren't humble, they didn't know how to manage the anxiety, with the greatness and glamour that is playing for Real Madrid. Casemiro knows. He understands everything from that."

Away from the World Cup, Silas also praised Casemiro for his role at United during his short time at Old Trafford, as the former Brazil midfielder said that the club will have a hard time replacing the 30-year-old when he eventually leaves.

He said: "At Manchester United he has just arrived, he is still getting used to the team and adapting. But he is going to be irreplaceable in United, as he was in Real Madrid and he is in Brazil team today."
