Victory for Zinedine Zidane's men ensured they kept pace with Barcelona after their 2-0 victory over Leganes on Tuesday.
But the piece de resistance for Madrid came four minutes from time, when Toni Kroos swept the ball out to Marco Asensio, who stabbed the ball into Benzema's path.
Despite defenders circling, the Frenchman -who also opened the scoring - cleverly lifted the ball over the challenge of Hugo Guillamon before blasting in an emphatic left-foot volley into the top corner of the net.
The strike left boss Zinedine Zidane with a huge grin on his face after his compatriot's incredible effort, and many fans were also full of praise for the goal.
One supporter reacted in snide adulation by stating: 'Amazing goal. Too bad the French national team can't have that.'
After Benzema - who is now Madrid's fifth all-time highest goalscorer - netted his incredible strike, another fan believed the quality of the goal befitted the player, writing: 'A legendary goal from a legendary player'.
