Recently Fiete Arp updated his Rehabilitation on instagram, revealed he was fit and had come back to team training.
Arp was absent for weeks due to persistent injuries (scaphoid fracture in the left hand in September and a small, bony detachment of the spoke in the left forearm in November). Consequence: The talent is still waiting for his first competitive game for Bayern despite a strong summer preparation.
In the winter training camp in Doha / Qatar (from January 4), Arp wants to make a fresh start and attack again. Arp speaks to SPORT1 for the first time after his long break and reveals what gives him hope that he can make it at Bayern.
"Our squad allows young players to have chances as they have rarely had at FC Bayern. You can see that a lot of young players have already played. I'm happy when the injured players come back, but injuries always open new doors." Arp talks about his chances to get games.
"I feel more and more comfortable here. My goal is still to find my place here. I might have taken two steps back through rehab, but maybe that was exactly what I needed. This allowed me to get used to the club. Hopefully it helps."
On whether he regrets his move: "Definitely not. At FC Bayern you find the best conditions. Nobody could have guessed that I would hurt my arm a second time, it was just bad luck. But as a footballer there is always a risk of injury. Now this phase is over and I can start again."
On Hansi Flick: "He developed a close connection with young players since he was assistant. I used to train with him more often when I couldn't train with the team. He told me not to put myself under pressure, to come back fit and start again in the winter break."
On Zirkzee: "I had a very good contact with Joshua from the start here in Munich so I'm really happy for him. He deserved it simply because he's a great footballer. That was a good motivation for me. I'm happy for the team & for him, because with his goals he won us 6 points."
