Filipe Luis' decision to join Brazilian side Flamengo was taken after his wife advised him to go where he'd feel the most loved.
The full-back departed Atletico Madrid after his contract expired this summer and his partner played a decisive role in his final decision.
"She said to 'go where they really love you'," Filipe Luis said at his unveiling.
"I've come to the place where I feel important, where I'll feel loved.
"Feeling important is above anything else," he stated.
Not short of offers, it's clear that the defender took the decision not for money but for its sentimental and emotional value.
"I had other offers," he explained.
"If it had been for money I'd have preferred to go to China, but it's different when Flamengo call.
"Not many people understand what this club means to me, but now I hope they do and I can realise my dream."
