Tragic news from Colombia as former Real Madrid midfielder Freddy Rincon has been taken to hospital after a car crash on Monday morning.
While driving close to the Estadio Pascual Guerreo, Rincon's car collided with a MIO bus at 5am in Monday morning, and passengers from both vehicles were taken to a Cali hospital where Rincon has been placed into intensive care, with his condition described as critical.
"The health condition of Freddy Rincon is serious, his condition is very critical, he had a severe cranioencephalic trauma, he will be submitted to surgery and then to the intensive care unit," stated Laureano Quintero, chief medical officer at the Imbanaco Clinic.
Rincon joined Real Madrid in August 1995 at the request of Jorge Valdano and become the first Colombian to play for Los Blancos. During his time at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, Rincon made just 21 appearances in two years with the club.
