Former player Chris Waddle believes Parrott had a strong start to the 2026/27 season, but there's no point in him returning to Tottenham Hotspur in the future.

Waddle told talkSPORT: "Tottenham have developed three or four good young players. Will Lankshear went to Middlesbrough, Mikey Moore is on loan at Rangers. But if you're talking about a top team like Tottenham, whose goal is to play in the Champions League, it's hard to look at a young player and determine if he'll be the next Harry Kane.
"It's difficult. Tottenham eventually decided to buy established strikers rather than continue to trust these young players. Whether they felt these players weren't ready to play for Tottenham is another matter, but they still let them go.
"If you let someone go for almost no money, and then you spend 80 million euros (£67.5 million) to buy back Parrott, who Tottenham Hotspur let go, I don't see the point. Of course, it's also common for players to have successful careers elsewhere after leaving big clubs.
"Ultimately, the club has to decide whether to give him a long-term contract and if he can break into the first team. If they think he won't make it in three or four years, they usually sell him while they can still get a good price, ideally with a buy-back clause.
"They ultimately chose to rely on Solanke and other experienced players, letting the young players leave. When these players succeed elsewhere and their value skyrockets, you have to say they made the right decision, even if Tottenham might have been wrong in that particular decision."
