PSG star Kylian Mbappe is set to receive a fine from FIFA for his misconduct after France's opening two World Cup group stage games, according to reports.

The 23-year-old has been scintillating on the pitch for his nation in Qatar and has already got three goals to his name after notching against both Denmark and Australia.

He was awarded the Player of the Match award in both games - which, by FIFA rules, means his is required to speak to the media afterwards - but Mbappe refused.

According to ESPN, his actions have left football's governing body with little choice but to issue a fine to the 23-year-old forward for going against FIFA rules.

After scoring and assisting in France's 4-1 win over Australia in their opener, Mbappe was given the post-match award but declined speaking to the media.

Both the player and the French Football Federation were made aware that if the forward repeated his actions, there would be a sanction for it.

However, despite clear instructions, Mbappe again refused to meet the media after claiming the Player of the Match award against Denmark on Saturday.

The understanding is that Mbappe refused to speak to the media under the presumption that the majority of questions would be surrounding his PSG future.

Such questions could serve as a distraction for the France forward, who is looking to be fully focused and rectify his last performance in an international competition.

At Euro 2020, the 23-year-old missed a crucial penalty that sent France out of the competition to Switzerland, in a shock result for the reigning World Cup champions.

He's made a brilliant start to France's current campaign in Qatar however, having registered three goals and one assists in their opening two games.

He's managed to take his tally up to seven World Cup goals - having starred at the 2018 tournament in Russia - and is his nation's second highest goalscorer in the competition.

Mbappe will be looking to build on his impressive return when France take on Tunisia in their final group stage game on Wednesday afternoon.
