On the eve of the Champions League match between Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona in the group stage, some Catalan media began to express concerns. Beyond the competitive significance of this highly anticipated European clash, the security situation in France raised significant doubts for them. Violence erupted on the periphery of protests against the rising cost of living on Saturday, October 17, alarming several Spanish media outlets.

As the Parisians prepare to host the Catalan team at the Parc des Princes, the atmosphere around the French capital is being closely monitored across the Pyrenees. Catalan media worried that these incidents could affect the travel plans of Barcelona fans and accompanying personnel in Paris. Mundo Deportivo wrote: "A turbulent Paris awaits Flick's Barcelona," and added: "France and its capital are currently experiencing serious unrest. Demonstrations have caused significant public disorder."

From the Spanish perspective, the primary concern is whether fans can fully enjoy the match without security concerns affecting the experience. Sports daily Sport also wrote: "Barcelona will face a strong atmosphere of social tension in Paris," and questioned whether this high-profile match could proceed smoothly: "The development of the situation and the security measures taken by the authorities will be crucial factors before Barcelona and its fans arrive." Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez has now addressed these concerns.

The minister stated: "There is no problem with the Paris Saint-Germain vs. Barcelona match," and added: "The same applies to other matches in European competitions." He emphasized: "The match will not be affected." Despite ongoing concerns from Spanish media, the match will take place on Tuesday at the Parc des Princes. Although approximately 2,200 Barcelona fans are expected in the French capital and the atmosphere remains tense, police have not classified this match as a "high-risk" event. For Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona, the focus now turns to the pitch and delivering a memorable European encounter.
