Antoine Griezmann has arrived in Uruguay ahead of the wedding between his Atletico Madrid teammate Diego Godin and Sofia Herrera.
The Frenchman's love for the South American country is well-known and during his arrival at the Montevideo Airport, he could see the feeling is mutual as he signed autographs and took photographs with fans.
Griezmann also took the opportunity to explain why he did not celebrate the goal against Uruguay in the last World Cup in Russia.
"I have always had a lot of appreciation for Uruguayans," he said.
"Ever since I was 18, I had a Uruguayan [Carlos Bueno, a former teammate at Real Sociedad] with me helping me during difficult times."
This will only be a short trip for Griezmann as he has to return to Madrid and start preparing for Atletico's return to football.
"I'm going to be here for three days," he stated
"I hope to enjoy the wedding and what Diego has prepared for me.
"I want to see the Uruguayans that I know and [then] I will come back."
The forward will be in the country until December 29 and will return to training on the 30th ahead of Los Rojiblancos' match against Sevilla on January 6.
