Jordan Henderson scored England's opener in their dominant performance over Senegal - and became the first Liverpool player to score at the 2022 World Cup.
With Jurgen Klopp's side under a lot of pressure at home with a rocky start to their Premier League campaign, the World Cup was a chance for some of their players to get away from Anfield.
But it was not until Henderson's 38th minute goal which broke the deadlock against Senegal that a Liverpool player had scored in Qatar.
Reds legend Jamie Carragher tweeted: 'Brilliant Jordan Henderson! So often questioned, but always answers in the right way.'
Henderson was withdrawn in the 81st minute with England 3-0 up. He was replaced by Manchester City's Kalvin Phillips.
