Riqui Puig came forward and volunteered to take Barcelona's fifth penalty in their shootout win over Real Sociedad on Wednesday evening, much to coach Ronald Koeman's delight.
The youngster scored the decisive spot kick to give the Catalans a 3-2 shootout win to book their place in the Supercopa de Espana final, with the game having finished 1-1 after 120 minutes.
"I had four names on my sheet," Ronald Koeman said after the game. "I asked who wanted to take the fifth and Riqui said 'I will'.
"He did very well."
Frenkie de Jong opened the scoring on the night with another goal, fulfilling Koeman's wishes to see him more involved in the final third.
"I've said a lot the the midfielders have to arrive in the box," Koeman added. "He's on the right track."
Lionel Messi missed out through discomfort and although the Dutchman doesn't know what condition his captain is in, he's happy with what he saw from his side after a tough first quarter of an hour.
"It was a great game and we both played with intensity," Koeman said. "Everyone had chances and we came up against a great team.
"We went through on penalties, but we suffered at the beginning with their high press.
"After 15 or 20 minutes we were okay."
