A signed football shirt worn by Lamine Yamal has sold for a whopping £65k... beating a record held by Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
The winning auction bid was placed by a superfan and collector from the US after the price rocketed from £28k with just an hour left. The match-worn and signed FC Barcelona shirt was worn in the famous 7-2 Champions League win against Newcastle United and funds will go to social projects linked to inclusion through sport.
It beats previous MatchWonShirt records held by Ronaldo of £54,369 and Messi at £49,119 becoming the most valuable football item sold on the platform. The current top selling item of all time belonged to dutch speed skater Jutta Leerdam.
On 18 March, FC Barcelona players took to the pitch against Newcastle United wearing shirts specially featuring the Fundació Itinerarium's iconic social typeface - a globally recognised symbol of inclusion and diversity, created by Anna Vives.
