On August 26th, Barcelona officially released a video in which president Laporta stated that if Atletico Madrid are willing to sell Alvarez, the club remains ready to make an offer.
Laporta said: "We remain interested in Alvarez. If Atletico Madrid are willing to sell him during this transfer window, we are ready to make an offer at any time. We will handle all matters while communicating with Atletico Madrid and work towards Alvarez's signing based on an offer acceptable to both parties."
