Lineker is left mind-blown by Messi's skills as the pundit retweets a clip

Gary Lineker was left mind-blown by Lionel Messi's skill after sharing a video of the Argentine embarrassing his former Barcelona team-mates in training.

A Blaugrana fan account posted a throwback clip of Messi breezing past his former team-mates to find the net multiple times and captioned it: 'Messi looks as if he were in the schoolyard. Very easy.'

Former Barcelona striker and pundit Gary Lineker retweeted the video, posting a single mind-blown emoji.

Messi starred for Barcelona for 21 years before making an emotional departure from the Nou Camp to join Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer last summer.

The 34-year-old has struggled in Ligue 1, netting just once in 12 appearances in the French top-flight.

But it is clear Lineker is still a fan of Messi, despite the forward's woes in the French capital this season.

The pundit has long been an admirer of Messi and claimed that he played a different sport as he compared him to Maradona.

'They are two Argentines, it is true, but the reason [I love them] is easy: I love football and what they gave to the game, nobody has given it to them,' he told Marca in October.

'Without comparing them, both did things that the rest of us mortals cannot even imagine. They gave us happiness. There were other greats, like the two Ronaldo's, for example, but I consider them more as tremendous scorers.

'Diego and Leo did, and do, in each game, two or three things that neither I nor almost anyone did in an entire career. They play another sport.'
