Lionel Messi breaks his silence on Argentina's chaotic Olympics soccer match

Lionel Messi has broken his silence on Argentina's highly-chaotic Olympic soccer loss to Morocco on Wednesday.

Argentina equalized the game in the 106th minute of the match, and had appeared to secure a 2-2 draw as both teams left the pitch following a fan invasion on the field.

However, the match was actually suspended - not finished - with players eventually recalled to complete the game more than an hour later, and Argentina's would-be equalizer chalked off for offsides by VAR.

Argentina were unable to salvage another goal during the restart, leading to a 2-1 loss and an angry message from Messi - who is not playing in the tournament.

'Insolito,' he wrote on his Instagram story, which means 'unbelievable.'

Argentina had fought back from 2-0 down and looked to have stolen a point in the dying stages of the match.

A stoppage time effort from Cristian Medina - after two efforts struck the bar immediately before - tied the game at 2-2 following an earlier goal from Giuliano Simeone.

Players were then led down the tunnel for their own safety after flares, bottles and cups were thrown at Argentina's celebrating players.

Pitch invaders also found their way onto the field following Argentina's extremely late goal.

The final three minutes of the match were played behind closed doors.

Incredibly, there were four hours between the start of the match and the final whistle.

Before the match, boos rang out during the Argentina national anthem in response to the video that Enzo Fernandez posted of the senior national team singing a racist chant after they'd won the Copa America.

The midfielder has since apologized for the video, while Chelsea condemned 'all forms of discriminatory behavior' prior to conducting their own investigation.

Argentina's Olympic squad will face Iraq next.
