Liverpool: Dortmund star Jude Bellingham would suit Jurgen Klopp's Reds 'down to the ground'

Jude Bellingham would be a seamless fit with Jurgen Klopp's high-energy Liverpool team, claims former Reds full-back Glen Johnson.

Bellingham, 18, has been a revelation joining Borussia Dortmund from Birmingham City in July 2020.

It was a 'ballsy decision' from Bellingham but Johnson feels it was 'genius' and now attention is turning to his return to English shores.

'He will make the right decision when he's ready and if he rocked up at Liverpool then wow!' Johnson told Bettingodds.com.

'The kid's unbelievable and I think he will suit that team down to the ground.'

Bellingham has become a key figure at Dortmund despite his tender age and he has established himself as one of the most in-demand youngsters in Europe.

Since moving to Germany he has represented England at Euro 2020 this summer and has been lavished in praise for his displays in last season's Champions League, particularly in the two games against Manchester City.

'This kid has a clear mind on him,' Johnson added. 'He made a really ballsy decision to go to Germany when he was so young and decided to leave his comfort zone to prove what he can do.

'For me, it was genius. I don't think he's going to rush into anything as he could have probably signed for Manchester United or Liverpool before he went to Borussia Dortmund.

'To turn away clubs like that and head to Germany in the way he did was gold dust.'

A recent report linked Liverpool with a move for the £90million-rated midfielder to bolster their midfield options.

But Bellingham's rise is unlikely to see Liverpool, if their interest is concrete, get a free run at the former Birmingham City academy star.

He was  man-of-the-match as the German side thrashed Turkish side Besiktas 5-0 in the final round of the Champions League group stage earlier this month and former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand was left in awe of the display.

The BT Sport pundit said: 'We've got some great young talent in this country. Jude Bellingham could be the one who has the full package. To become captain, leader, man amongst men. To play multiple positions and dominate big games throughout his career.

'It's a big challenge to him and I don't want to go overboard but I have to because what he does in all games when you see him, what he does, there's a moment in the game where he makes you go 'he can't be 18 years old'.

'Whether it's a bit of skill, or just a body position, the way you see him demand the ball from somebody, he does things that make you think 'that's a 25-year-old who's been playing at the top for five or six years.

'There aren’t that many players at that age, if any, where you can say he improves every team on the planet he goes to right now - at 18 years old. He improves everyone one of those teams.'
