Liverpool vs Brentford: Predictions, odds & betting tips

  /  autty

Liverpool will be determined to get their Premier League campaign back on track when they welcome Brentford to Anfield on Sunday.

Jurgen Klopp’s men have fallen off the pace in the title race after a run of three games without a win in the league.

However, Liverpool are 3/10 (1.30) favourites with bet365 to return to form by coming out on top for a fifth successive league game on home soil.

Brentford have lost three of their last four matches in the league but can be backed at 9/1 (10.0) to cause an upset by securing their first victory at this ground since 1937.

The sides shared an exciting 3-3 draw in September’s reverse encounter at the Brentford Community Stadium, and you can get odds of 9/2 (5.50) on them cancelling each other out once again.

Diogo Jota is the 11/4 (3.75) favourite to open the scoring in the absence of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, with Roberto Firmino priced at 11/2 (6.50) after scoring his first goal since October in the FA Cup win over Shrewsbury.

Ivan Toney is the visitors' 15/2 (8.50) favourite to break the deadlock with his first goal since November, while Bryan Mbeumo can be backed at 16/1 (17.0).

While Salah and Mane’s participation in the Africa Cup of Nations will undoubtedly have a major impact on the Reds’ attack, there are also concerns over performances at the other end of the pitch.

Having kept just one clean sheet in eight games in all competitions, they could prove vulnerable to a visiting team that put three goals past them in the reverse encounter.

However, Thomas Frank has his own defensive issues to deal with, having seen his team go 18 fixtures without a clean sheet and let in 17 goals in their last seven on the road.

All in all, even money (2.0) seems generous on both Liverpool and Brentford getting on target in another exciting encounter at Anfield on Sunday.
